¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.^[a]

⁴ I always thank my God concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,

⁷ But to each one of us, the grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

¹⁶ Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, ¹⁷ comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

⁹ who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,
