John 1:13-22

¹³ who ^(A)were born, ^(B)not of blood ^(C)nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

¹⁴ And ^(D)the Word ^(E)became flesh and ^(F)dwelt among us, ^(G)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[a] from the Father, full of ^(H)grace and ^(I)truth. ¹⁵ (^(J)John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ^(K)‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) ¹⁶ For from ^(L)his fullness we have all received, ^(M)grace upon grace.^{[b] 17} For ^(N)the law was given through Moses; ^(O)grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. ^18 (P)No one has ever seen God; ^(Q)God the only Son, who^[c] is at the Father's side,^{[d] (R)}he has made him known.

The Testimony of John the Baptist

¹⁹ And this is the ^(S)testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, ^(T)“Who are you?” ^20 (U)He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” ²¹ And they asked him, “What then? ^(V)Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you ^(W)the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” ²² So they said to him, “Who are you? We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
