¹¹ He came to ^(A)his own,^[a] and ^(B)his own people^{[b] (C)}did not receive him.

¹⁴ But ^(A)his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’

^32 (A)He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, ^(B)yet no one receives his testimony.

^51 (A)“You stiff-necked people, ^(B)uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. ^(C)As your fathers did, so do you. ^52 (D)Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of ^(E)the Righteous One, ^(F)whom you have now betrayed and murdered,

¹³ Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my ^(A)beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’ ¹⁴ But when the tenants saw him, they said to themselves, ^(B)‘This is the heir. ^(C)Let us kill him, so that the inheritance may be ours.’ ¹⁵ And they ^(D)threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

²⁴ He answered, ^(A)“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Christ the Hope of Jews and Gentiles

⁸ For I tell you that Christ ^(A)became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness, in order ^(B)to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs,

⁴⁶ And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God ^(A)be spoken first to you. ^(B)Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves ^(C)unworthy of eternal life, behold, we ^(D)are turning to the Gentiles.
