The Word Became Flesh

1 ^(A)In the beginning was ^(B)the Word, and ^(C)the Word was with God, and ^(D)the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ^3 (E)All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. ^4 (F)In him was life,^[a] and ^(G)the life was the light of men.

^9 (A)The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet ^(B)the world did not know him. ¹¹ He came to ^(C)his own,^[a] and ^(D)his own people^{[b] (E)}did not receive him. ¹² But to all who did receive him, ^(F)who believed in his name, ^(G)he gave the right ^(H)to become ^(I)children of God, ¹³ who ^(J)were born, ^(K)not of blood ^(L)nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

¹⁴ And ^(M)the Word ^(N)became flesh and ^(O)dwelt among us, ^(P)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[c] from the Father, full of ^(Q)grace and ^(R)truth.

²⁵ “Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(A)an hour is coming, and is now here, when ^(B)the dead will hear ^(C)the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear ^(D)will live. ^26 (E)For as the Father has life in himself, ^(F)so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. ²⁷ And he ^(G)has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, ^(A)“I am the resurrection and ^(B)the life.^[a] Whoever believes in me, ^(C)though he die, ^(D)yet shall he live, ²⁶ and everyone who lives and believes in me ^(E)shall never die. Do you believe this?” ²⁷ She said to him, “Yes, Lord; ^(F)I believe that ^(G)you are the Christ, the Son of God, ^(H)who is coming into the world.”

The High Priestly Prayer

17 When Jesus had spoken these words, ^(A)he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, ^(B)the hour has come; ^(C)glorify your Son that the Son may ^(D)glorify you, ² since ^(E)you have given him authority over all flesh, ^(F)to give eternal life to all ^(G)whom you have given him. ^3 (H)And this is eternal life, ^(I)that they know you, ^(J)the only ^(K)true God, and ^(L)Jesus Christ whom you have sent. ⁴ I ^(M)glorified you on earth, ^(N)having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. ⁵ And now, Father, ^(O)glorify me in your own presence with the glory ^(P)that I had with you ^(Q)before the world existed.
