41 You do the deeds of your father.”

Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; (A)we have one Father—God.”

42 Jesus said to them, (B)“If God were your Father, you would love Me, for (C)I proceeded forth and came from God; (D)nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 (E)Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 (F)You are of your father the devil, and the (G)desires of your father you want to (H)do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and (I)does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil,(G) and you want to carry out your father’s desires.(H) He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.(I)
