³⁵ Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.^(A)

³¹ “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.

¹⁰ and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman^(A) and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.”^(B)

⁴ But when the set time had fully come,^(A) God sent his Son,^(B) born of a woman,^(C) born under the law,^{(D) 5} to redeem^(E) those under the law, that we might receive adoption^(F) to sonship.^{[a](G) 6} Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son^(H) into our hearts,^(I) the Spirit who calls out, “Abba,^[b] Father.”^{(J) 7} So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.^(K)

³⁰ But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”^{[a](A) 31} Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman,^(B) but of the free woman.^(C)
