I Am the Light of the World

^12 (A)Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ^(B)“I am the light of the world. Whoever ^(C)follows me will not ^(D)walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. ²⁶ But the ^(A)Helper, the Holy Spirit, ^(B)whom the Father will send in my name, ^(C)he will teach you all things and ^(D)bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. ^27 (E)Peace I leave with you; ^(F)my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. ^(G)Let not your hearts be troubled, neither ^(H)let them be afraid. ^28 (I)You heard me say to you, ^(J)‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I ^(K)am going to the Father, for ^(L)the Father is greater than I. ²⁹ And ^(M)now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. ³⁰ I will no longer talk much with you, for ^(N)the ruler of this world is coming. ^(O)He has no claim on me, ³¹ but I do ^(P)as the Father has commanded me, ^(Q)so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.

⁴ But ^(A)I have said these things to you, that when ^(B)their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you.

The Work of the Holy Spirit

“I did not say these things to you from the beginning, ^(C)because I was with you. ⁵ But now ^(D)I am going to him who sent me, and ^(E)none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ ⁶ But because I have said these things to you, ^(F)sorrow has filled your heart. ⁷ Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for ^(G)if I do not go away, ^(H)the Helper will not come to you. But ^(I)if ^(J)I go, ^(K)I will send him to you. ^8 (L)And when he comes, he will ^(M)convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: ⁹ concerning sin, ^(N)because they do not believe in me; ^10 (O)concerning righteousness, ^(P)because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; ^11 (Q)concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world ^(R)is judged.

¹² “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. ¹³ When ^(S)the Spirit of truth comes, ^(T)he will ^(U)guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but ^(V)whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. ¹⁴ He will ^(W)glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. ^15 (X)All that the Father has is mine; ^(Y)therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
