¹⁰ Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” ^(A)Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number.

¹⁴ For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” ¹⁵ And they did so, and had them all sit down. ¹⁶ And taking the five loaves and the two fish, ^(A)he looked up to heaven and ^(B)said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.

⁶ And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and ^(A)having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. ⁷ And they had a few small fish. And ^(B)having blessed them, he said that these also should be set before them.

³⁹ Then he commanded them all to sit down in groups on the green grass. ⁴⁰ So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties. ⁴¹ And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he ^(A)looked up to heaven and ^(B)said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all.

³⁵ And directing the crowd to sit down on the ground, ³⁶ he took the seven loaves and the fish, and ^(A)having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
