John 5:9-13

New King James Version

⁹And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

And ^(A)that day was the Sabbath. ¹⁰The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; ^(B)it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”

¹¹He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ”

¹²Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” ¹³But the one who was ^(C)healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.

⁹At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,^(A) ¹⁰and so the Jewish leaders^(B) said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”^(C)

¹¹But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ”

¹²So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?”

¹³The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.
