²³ Yet a time is coming and has now come^(A) when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit^(B) and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. ²⁴ God is spirit,^(C) and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

² While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,^(A) “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work^(B) to which I have called them.”^(C)

¹¹ So Christ himself gave^(A) the apostles,^(B) the prophets,^(C) the evangelists,^(D) the pastors and teachers,^{(E) 12} to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ^(F) may be built up^{(G) 13} until we all reach unity^(H) in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God^(I) and become mature,^(J) attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.^(K)

¹⁴ Do everything in love.^(A)

¹⁵ You know that the household of Stephanas^(B) were the first converts^(C) in Achaia,^(D) and they have devoted themselves to the service^(E) of the Lord’s people.^(F) I urge you, brothers and sisters, ¹⁶ to submit^(G) to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it. ¹⁷ I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.^{(H) 18} For they refreshed^(I) my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.^(J)

¹⁵ He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.^{(A) 16} Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.^{(B) 17} And these signs^(C) will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons;^(D) they will speak in new tongues;^{(E) 18} they will pick up snakes^(F) with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on^(G) sick people, and they will get well.”

¹⁹ After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven^(H) and he sat at the right hand of God.^{(I) 20} Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs^(J) that accompanied it.
