John 3:13-21

New International Version

¹³No one has ever gone into heaven^(A) except the one who came from heaven^(B)—the Son of Man.^[a]^(C) ¹⁴Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness,^(D) so the Son of Man must be lifted up,^[b]^(E) ¹⁵that everyone who believes^(F) may have eternal life in him.”^[c]^(G)

¹⁶For God so loved^(H) the world that he gave^(I) his one and only Son,^(J) that whoever believes^(K) in him shall not perish but have eternal life.^(L) ¹⁷For God did not send his Son into the world^(M) to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.^(N) ¹⁸Whoever believes in him is not condemned,^(O) but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.^(P) ¹⁹This is the verdict: Light^(Q) has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.^(R) ²⁰Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.^(S) ²¹But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Jesus Prays to Be Glorified

17 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven^(A) and prayed:

“Father, the hour has come.^(B) Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.^(C) ²For you granted him authority over all people^(D) that he might give eternal life^(E) to all those you have given him.^(F) ³Now this is eternal life: that they know you,^(G) the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.^(H)
