John 21:22-24
New Life Version
22 Jesus said, “If I want this one to wait until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” 23 So the news spread among the followers that this follower would not die. But Jesus did not say to him that he would not die. He said, “If I want him to wait until I come, what is that to you?”
John Tells That He Wrote This Book
24 This is the follower who is telling of these things and who has written them. We know that his word is true.

New International Version
22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return,(A) what is that to you? You must follow me.”(B) 23 Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers(C) that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”
24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things(D) and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.(E)
