At Breakfast, Jesus Restores Peter. Do You Love Me? Feed My Sheep
15 Then when they ate-breakfast, Jesus says to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you devotedly-love[a] Me more than these[b]?” He says to Him, “Yes, Lord. You know that I affectionately-love You”. He says to him, “Be feeding My lambs”. 16 He says to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you devotedly-love Me?” He says to Him, “Yes, Lord. You know that I affectionately-love You”. He says to him, “Be shepherding My sheep”. 17 He says to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you affectionately-love Me?” Peter was grieved because[c] He said to him the third time, “Do you affectionately-love Me?”. And he says to Him, “Lord, You know all things. You recognize[d] that I affectionately-love You”. Jesus says to him, “Be feeding My sheep.

- John 21:15 That is, these other disciples, since Peter had said ‘Though all fall, I will not’ (Mt 26:33; Mk 14:29); or, these fish; your former life.
- John 21:17 John may mean because Jesus asked a third time; or, because on this third time He used the same word Peter himself had been using.

New International Version
Jesus Reinstates Peter
15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”(A)
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”(B)
16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”(C)
17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?”(D) He said, “Lord, you know all things;(E) you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.(F)
