26 And [a]after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been [b]shut, and stood in their midst and said, (A)Peace be with you.” 27 Then He *said to Thomas, (B)Bring your finger here, and see My hands; and bring your hand here and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? (C)Blessed are those who did not see, and yet believed.”

Why This Gospel Was Written

30 (D)Therefore many other [c](E)signs Jesus also did in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written (F)so that you may believe that Jesus is the [d]Christ, (G)the Son of God; and that (H)believing you may have life in His name.

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace(A) be with you!”(B) 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”(C)

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed;(D) blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”(E)

The Purpose of John’s Gospel

30 Jesus performed many other signs(F) in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.(G) 31 But these are written that you may believe[a](H) that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God,(I) and that by believing you may have life in his name.(J)
