6 Now there were six stone waterpots set there (A)for the Jewish custom of purification, containing [a]twenty or thirty gallons each. 7 Jesus *said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He *said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the [b]headwaiter.” So they took it to him.

6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing,(A) each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[a]
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
