6 Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing), containing twenty or thirty gallons each. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim.

6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing,(A) each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[a]
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
