The Word Became Flesh

1 ^(A)In the beginning was ^(B)the Word, and ^(C)the Word was with God, and ^(D)the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ^3 (E)All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. ^4 (F)In him was life,^[a] and ^(G)the life was the light of men. ^5 (H)The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

¹⁴ And ^(A)the Word ^(B)became flesh and ^(C)dwelt among us, ^(D)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[a] from the Father, full of ^(E)grace and ^(F)truth. ¹⁵ (^(G)John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ^(H)‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) ¹⁶ For from ^(I)his fullness we have all received, ^(J)grace upon grace.^{[b] 17} For ^(K)the law was given through Moses; ^(L)grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
