28 After this, Jesus, (A)knowing that all things had already been accomplished, (B)in order that the Scripture would be fulfilled, *said, “(C)I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so (D)they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished,(B) and so that Scripture would be fulfilled,(C) Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar(D) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.
