Jesus before the High Priest^(A)

¹²Then the soldiers, along with their commander and the Jewish officers, arrested Jesus and tied him up. ¹³First they brought him to Annas, because he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year. ¹⁴Caiaphas was the person who had advised the Jews that it was better to have one man die for the people.

¹²Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials^(A) arrested Jesus. They bound him ¹³and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas,^(B) the high priest that year. ¹⁴Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jewish leaders that it would be good if one man died for the people.^(C)
