Jesus before Annas and Caiaphas
12 So the cohort and their commander and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him, 13 and led Him to [a]Annas first; for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the people.(A)

12 Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials(A) arrested Jesus. They bound him 13 and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas,(B) the high priest that year. 14 Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jewish leaders that it would be good if one man died for the people.(C)
