20 “I do not (A)ask for these only, but also for those (B)who will believe in me through their word, 21 (C)that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that (D)they also may be in (E)us, so that the world (F)may believe that you have sent me. 22 (G)The glory that you have given me (H)I have given to them, (I)that they may be one even as we are one, 23 (J)I in them and you in me, (K)that they may become perfectly one, (L)so that the world may know that you sent me and (M)loved them even as (N)you loved me.

The Message
20-23 I’m praying not only for them
But also for those who will believe in me
Because of them and their witness about me.
The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind—
Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you,
So they might be one heart and mind with us.
Then the world might believe that you, in fact, sent me.
The same glory you gave me, I gave them,
So they’ll be as unified and together as we are—
I in them and you in me.
Then they’ll be mature in this oneness,
And give the godless world evidence
That you’ve sent me and loved them
In the same way you’ve loved me.

20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
22 “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.
