(A)Greater love has no one than this, that a person will (B)lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are My (C)friends if (D)you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because (E)all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 (F)You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and (G)bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that (H)whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. 17 This (I)I command you, that you love one another.

Footnotes

  1. John 15:18 Or (command) know that

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

These things I command you, that ye love one another.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
