^8 (A)Philip said to him, “Lord, ^(B)show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” ⁹ Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? ^(C)Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? ¹⁰ Do you not believe that ^(D)I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you ^(E)I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. ¹¹ Believe me that ^(F)I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else ^(G)believe on account of the works themselves.

¹² “Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(H)whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I ^(I)am going to the Father. ^13 (J)Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that ^(K)the Father may be glorified in the Son. ^14 (L)If you ask me^[a] anything in my name, I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

^15 (M)“If you love me, you will ^(N)keep my commandments. ¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another ^(O)Helper,^[b] to be with you forever, ¹⁷ even ^(P)the Spirit of truth, ^(Q)whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and ^(R)will be^[c] in you.

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. ²⁶ But the ^(A)Helper, the Holy Spirit, ^(B)whom the Father will send in my name, ^(C)he will teach you all things and ^(D)bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. ^27 (E)Peace I leave with you; ^(F)my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. ^(G)Let not your hearts be troubled, neither ^(H)let them be afraid.
