^27 (A)Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. ²⁸ You have heard Me ^(B)say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because ^[a]I said, ^(C)‘I am going to the Father,’ for ^(D)My Father is greater than I.

²⁹ “And ^(E)now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe. ³⁰ I will no longer talk much with you, ^(F)for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has ^(G)nothing in Me. ³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father, and ^(H)as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

The True Vine

15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. ^2 (I)Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He ^[b]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear ^(J)more fruit. ^3 (K)You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. ^4 (L)Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

⁵ “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much ^(M)fruit; for without Me you can do ^(N)nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, ^(O)he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words ^(P)abide in you, ^(Q)you^[c] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. ^8 (R)By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; ^(S)so you will be My disciples.

⁹ “As the Father ^(T)loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. ^10 (U)If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
