27 (A)Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 You have heard Me (B)say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because [a]I said, (C)‘I am going to the Father,’ for (D)My Father is greater than I.

29 “And (E)now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, (F)for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has (G)nothing in Me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and (H)as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

The True Vine

15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. (I)Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He [b]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear (J)more fruit. (K)You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. (L)Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much (M)fruit; for without Me you can do (N)nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, (O)he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words (P)abide in you, (Q)you[c] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. (R)By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; (S)so you will be My disciples.

Love and Joy Perfected

“As the Father (T)loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 (U)If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.(A) I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled(B) and do not be afraid.

28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’(C) If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father,(D) for the Father is greater than I.(E) 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.(F) 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world(G) is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.(H)

“Come now; let us leave.

The Vine and the Branches

15 “I am(I) the true vine,(J) and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,(K) while every branch that does bear fruit(L) he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.(M) Remain in me, as I also remain in you.(N) No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;(O) apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.(P) If you remain in me(Q) and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.(R) This is to my Father’s glory,(S) that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.(T)

“As the Father has loved me,(U) so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands,(V) you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
