Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

¹⁵ “If you love me, keep my commands.^(A)

²⁰ On that day^(A) you will realize that I am in my Father,^(B) and you are in me, and I am in you.^{(C) 21} Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.^(D) The one who loves me will be loved by my Father,^(E) and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

²³ Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.^(A) My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.^{(B) 24} Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.^(C)

² This is how we know^(A) that we love the children of God:^(B) by loving God and carrying out his commands. ³ In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands.^(C) And his commands are not burdensome,^{(D) 4} for everyone born of God^(E) overcomes^(F) the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
