39 Again they tried to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands.
40 He went away again across the Jordan to the place where John at first baptized, and there he remained. 41 And many came to him; and they said, “John did no sign, but everything that John said about this man was true.”

39 Again they tried to seize him,(A) but he escaped their grasp.(B)
40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan(C) to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, 41 and many people came to him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign,(D) all that John said about this man was true.”(E)
