40 And He went away again beyond the Jordan, to the place where John was first baptizing. And He was staying there. 41 And many came to Him, and were saying that “John did no sign— but all that John said about this One was true”.

39 Again they tried to seize him,(A) but he escaped their grasp.(B)
40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan(C) to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, 41 and many people came to him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign,(D) all that John said about this man was true.”(E)
