^7 [a]He came ^[b](A)as a witness, to bear witness about the Light, ^(B)so that all might believe through him.

¹⁵ John *^(A)bore witness about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘^(B)He who comes after me ^[a]has been ahead of me, ^(C)for He existed before me.’”

A Voice in the Wilderness

¹⁹ And this is ^(A)the witness of John, when ^(B)the ^[a]Jews sent to him priests and Levites ^(C)from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

³² And John ^(A)bore witness saying, “^(B)I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He abided on Him.

²⁶ And they came to John and said to him, “^(A)Rabbi, He who was with you ^(B)beyond the Jordan, to whom you ^(C)have borne witness, behold, He is baptizing and all are coming to Him.” ²⁷ John answered and said, “^(D)A man can receive nothing unless it ^(E)has been given him from heaven. ²⁸ You yourselves ^[a]are my witnesses that I said, ‘^(F)I am not the ^[b]Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ ²⁹ He who has the bride is ^(G)the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this ^(H)joy of mine has been made full. ³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease.
