6 Ein Mensch kann immer nur menschliches Leben hervorbringen. Wer aber durch Gottes Geist geboren wird, bekommt neues Leben.[a] 7 Wundere dich deshalb nicht, dass ich dir gesagt habe: ›Ihr müsst neu geboren werden.‹ 8 Es ist damit wie beim Wind[b]: Er weht, wo er will. Du hörst ihn, aber du kannst nicht erklären, woher er kommt und wohin er geht. So ist es auch mit der Geburt aus Gottes Geist.«
