⁹ Proclaim this among the nations:

    stir up the mighty men.
Let all the men of war draw near;
    let them come up.

^3 (A)“Prepare buckler and shield,
    and advance for battle!
^4 (B)Harness the horses;
    mount, O horsemen!
Take your stations with your helmets,
    ^(C)polish your spears,
    put on your armor!

⁹ Be broken,^[a] you peoples, and ^(A)be shattered;^[b]
    give ear, all you far countries;
strap on your armor and be shattered;

¹⁰ Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing;
    speak a word, ^(B)but it will not stand,
    for God ^(C)is with us.^[c]

¹⁰ “Hear the word of the Lord, O nations,
    and declare it in the coastlands far away;
say, ‘He who scattered Israel will ^(A)gather him,
    and will keep him ^(B)as a shepherd keeps his flock.’

⁵ Thus says the Lord concerning ^(A)the prophets
    who lead my people astray,
^(B)who cry “Peace”
    when they have something to eat,
but declare war against him
    who puts nothing into their mouths.

² “Declare among the nations and proclaim,
    set up a banner and proclaim,
    conceal it not, and say:
^(A)‘Babylon is taken,
    ^(B)Bel is put to shame,
    Merodach is dismayed.
^(C)Her images are put to shame,
    her idols are dismayed.’
