Joel 2:28-32

New International Version

The Day of the Lord

²⁸“And afterward,
    I will pour out my Spirit^(A) on all people.^(B)
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,^(C)
    your old men will dream dreams,^(D)
    your young men will see visions.
²⁹Even on my servants,^(E) both men and women,
    I will pour out my Spirit in those days.^(F)
³⁰I will show wonders in the heavens^(G)
    and on the earth,^(H)
    blood and fire and billows of smoke.
³¹The sun will be turned to darkness^(I)
    and the moon to blood
    before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.^(J)
³²And everyone who calls
    on the name of the Lord^(K) will be saved;^(L)
for on Mount Zion^(M) and in Jerusalem
    there will be deliverance,^(N)
    as the Lord has said,
even among the survivors^(O)
    whom the Lord calls.^[a]^(P)

2 When the day of Pentecost^(A) came, they were all together^(B) in one place. ²Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.^(C) ³They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. ⁴All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit^(D) and began to speak in other tongues^[a]^(E) as the Spirit enabled them.

The Fellowship of the Believers

⁴²They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching^(A) and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread^(B) and to prayer.^(C) ⁴³Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.^(D) ⁴⁴All the believers were together and had everything in common.^(E) ⁴⁵They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.^(F) ⁴⁶Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.^(G) They broke bread^(H) in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, ⁴⁷praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.^(I) And the Lord added to their number^(J) daily those who were being saved.
