12 The vine dries up;
    (A)the fig tree languishes.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple,
    all the trees of the field are dried up,
and (B)gladness dries up
    from the children of man.

A Call to Repentance

13 (C)Put on sackcloth and lament, (D)O priests;
    (E)wail, O ministers of the altar.
Go in, (F)pass the night in sackcloth,
    (G)O ministers of my God!
(H)Because grain offering and drink offering
    are withheld from the house of your God.

14 (I)Consecrate a fast;
    (J)call a solemn assembly.
Gather (K)the elders
    and (L)all the inhabitants of the land
to the house of the Lord your God,
    and cry out to the Lord.

15 Alas for the day!
(M)For the day of the Lord is near,
    and as destruction from the Almighty[a] it comes.

to the house of the Lord your God,
    and cry out(I) to the Lord.(J)

15 Alas for that(K) day!
    For the day of the Lord(L) is near;
    it will come like destruction from the Almighty.[b](M)
