Satan’s Second Test of Job
2 One day the sons of God(A) came again to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them to present himself before the Lord. 2 The Lord asked Satan, “Where have you come from?”
“From roaming through the earth,” Satan answered Him, “and walking around on it.”
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity,(B) who fears God and turns away from evil.(C) He still retains his integrity, even though you incited Me against him, to destroy him without just cause.”
4 “Skin for skin!” Satan answered the Lord. “A man will give up everything he owns in exchange for his life. 5 But stretch out Your hand and strike(D) his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse You to Your face.”
6 “Very well,” the Lord told Satan, “he is in your power; only spare his life.” 7 So Satan left the Lord’s presence and infected Job with terrible boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.(E) 8 Then Job took a piece of broken pottery to scrape himself while he sat among the ashes.[a](F)
9 His wife said to him, “Do you still retain your integrity? Curse God and die!”
10 “You speak as a foolish woman speaks,” he told her. “Should we accept only good from God and not adversity?” Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.[b]
Job’s Three Friends
11 Now when Job’s three friends—Eliphaz the Temanite,(G) Bildad the Shuhite,(H) and Zophar the Naamathite—heard about all this adversity that had happened to him, each of them came from his home. They met together to go and sympathize with him and comfort(I) him. 12 When they looked from a distance, they could barely recognize him. They wept aloud,(J) and each man tore his robe and threw dust into the air and on his head.(K) 13 Then they sat on the ground with him seven days and nights,(L) but no one spoke a word to him because they saw that his suffering(M) was very intense.

Satan Attacks Job’s Health
2 Again (A)there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?”
(B)Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, (C)a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he (D)holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, (E)to [a]destroy him without cause.”
4 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. 5 (F)But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his (G)bone and his flesh, and he will surely [b]curse You to Your face!”
6 (H)And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.”
7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with painful boils (I)from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. 8 And he took for himself a potsherd with which to scrape himself (J)while he sat in the midst of the ashes.
9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? [c]Curse God and die!”
10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. (K)Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” (L)In all this Job did not (M)sin with his lips.
Job’s Three Friends
11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his own place—Eliphaz the (N)Temanite, Bildad the (O)Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come (P)and mourn with him, and to comfort him. 12 And when they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and (Q)sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven. 13 So they sat down with him on the ground (R)seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.

Sinubok Muli ni Satanas si Job
2 Muling humarap kay Yahweh ang mga anak ng Diyos,[a] at naroon din si Satanas.[b] 2 Tinanong ni Yahweh si Satanas,[c] ang Tagapagparatang. “Saan ka nanggaling?”
Sumagot si Satanas,[d] “Nagpapabalik-balik at naglilibot ako sa buong daigdig.”
3 “Napansin mo ba ang lingkod kong si Job?” tanong ni Yahweh. “Wala siyang katulad sa daigdig. Mabuti siyang tao, sumasamba sa akin, at umiiwas sa masamang gawain. Hinimok mo akong pinsalain siya kahit walang sapat na dahilan, subalit nananatili pa rin siyang tapat sa akin,” sabi pa ni Yahweh.
4 Sumagot si Satanas,[e] “Kahit anong bagay ay ibibigay ng tao, huwag lamang siyang mamatay. 5 Subukin ninyong saktan ang kanyang katawan at sigurado kong susumpain niya kayo nang harap-harapan!”
6 Sinabi ni Yahweh, “Kung gayon, gawin mo ang gusto mong gawin sa kanya, huwag mo lamang siyang papatayin.”
7 Kaya umalis si Satanas[f] sa harapan ni Yahweh at tinadtad ng nagnanaknak na sugat ang buo nitong katawan mula ulo hanggang talampakan. 8 Naupo si Job sa tabi ng basurahan at kinamot niya ng isang pirasong basag na palayok ang kanyang mga sugat. 9 Sinabi ng kanyang asawa, “Mananatili ka pa bang matuwid? Sumpain mo ang Diyos at nang mamatay ka na!”
10 Ang sagot ni Job, “Hindi mo naiintindihan ang iyong sinasabi. Pagpapala lang ba ang tatanggapin mo sa Diyos? Hindi ba natin tatanggapin kung bigyan niya tayo ng pagdurusa?” Sa kabila ng kanyang paghihirap, hindi nagsalita si Job ng laban sa Diyos.
Dinalaw si Job ng Kanyang mga Kaibigan
11 Ang masamang nangyari kay Job ay nabalitaan ng tatlo niyang kaibigang si Elifaz na Temaneo, si Bildad na Suhita, at si Zofar na Naamita. Nagkasundo silang tatlo na dalawin si Job upang palakasin ang loob niya at makiramay sa kanya. 12 Malayo pa sila'y nakita na nila si Job ngunit hindi nila ito nakilala. Nang makilala nila ito, hindi nila napigilang umiyak nang malakas. Pinunit nila ang kanilang mga damit at naglagay ng abo sa ulo dahil sa pagdadalamhati. 13 Pitong araw at pitong gabi silang naupo sa lupa kasama ni Job. Ngunit hindi nila ito pinagsabihan ng kahit ano sapagkat nakikita nilang hirap na hirap ito sa kanyang kalagayan.
