New International Version

² Resentment^(A) kills a fool,
    and envy slays the simple.^(B)
3 I myself have seen^(C) a fool taking root,^(D)
    but suddenly^(E) his house was cursed.^(F)
4 His children^(G) are far from safety,^(H)
    crushed in court^(I) without a defender.^(J)
5 The hungry consume his harvest,^(K)
    taking it even from among thorns,
    and the thirsty pant after his wealth.
