³⁴ “For the company of ^(A)the godless is barren,
And fire consumes ^(B)the tents of ^[a]the corrupt.

⁴ “Do you know this from ^(A)of old,
From the establishment of man on earth,
⁵ That the ^(B)triumphing of the wicked is short,
And ^(C)the joy of the godless momentary?
⁶ “Though his loftiness ^[a](D)reaches the heavens,
And his head touches the clouds,
⁷ He ^(E)perishes forever like his refuse;
Those who have seen him ^(F)will say, ‘Where is he?’
⁸ “He flies away like a ^(G)dream, and they cannot find him;
Even like a vision of the night he is ^(H)chased away.
⁹ “The ^(I)eye which saw him sees him no longer,
And ^(J)his place no longer beholds him.
¹⁰ “His ^(K)sons ^[b]favor the poor,
And his hands ^(L)give back his wealth.
¹¹ “His ^(M)bones are full of his youthful vigor,
But it lies down with him ^[c]in the dust.
