Job 7:11-16
New American Standard Bible
11 “Therefore (A)I will not restrain my mouth;
I will speak in the anguish of my spirit,
I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.
12 Am I the sea, or (B)the sea monster,
That You set a guard over me?
13 If I say, ‘(C)My couch will comfort me,
My bed will [a]ease my complaint,’
14 Then You frighten me with dreams,
And terrify me by visions,
15 So that my soul would choose suffocation,
Death rather than my [b]pains.
16 I [c](D)waste away; I will not live forever.
Leave me alone, (E)for my days are only a breath.
Job 7:11-16
Lexham English Bible
11 “Even[a] I will not restrain my mouth;
I will speak in my spirit’s anguish;
I will complain in my inner self’s[b] bitterness.
12 Am I the sea, or a sea monster,
that you set a guard over me?
13 When I say, ‘My bed will comfort me,
and my couch[c] will ease my complaint,’
14 then[d] you terrify me with dreams,[e]
and with visions you terrify[f] me.
15 So[g] my inner self[h] will choose[i] strangling—
death more than my existence.[j]
16 I loathe my life; I would not live forever;
depart from me, for my days are a breath.
