³ I ate no ^[a]pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

¹⁸ “Son of man, ^(A)eat your bread with ^[a]quaking, and drink your water with trembling and anxiety. ¹⁹ And say to the people of the land, ‘Thus says the Lord God to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the land of Israel: “They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water with dread, so that her land may ^(B)be emptied of all who are in it, ^(C)because of the violence of all those who dwell in it.

¹⁶ Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, surely I will cut off the ^(A)supply of bread in Jerusalem; they shall ^(B)eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and shall ^(C)drink water by measure and with dread,

¹⁴ So I said, ^(A)“Ah, Lord God! Indeed I have never defiled myself from my youth till now; I have never eaten ^(B)what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has ^(C)abominable^[a] flesh ever come into my mouth.”

²⁷ and say, ‘Thus says the king: “Put this fellow in ^(A)prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace.” ’ ”

¹² So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a ^[a]jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and ^(A)die.”
