Job 5:8-16
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
8 “As for me, I would seek God,
and to God I would commit my cause.(A)
9 He does great things and unsearchable,
marvelous things without number.(B)
10 He gives rain on the earth
and sends waters on the fields;(C)
11 he sets on high those who are lowly,
and those who mourn are lifted to safety.(D)
12 He frustrates the devices of the crafty,
so that their hands achieve no success.(E)
13 He takes the wise in their own craftiness,
and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.
14 They meet with darkness in the daytime
and grope at noonday as in the night.(F)
15 But he saves the needy from the sword of their mouth,
from the hand of the mighty.(G)
16 So the poor have hope,
and injustice shuts its mouth.(H)
Job 5:8-16
New American Standard Bible
8 “But as for me, I would (A)seek God,
And I would make my plea before God,
9 Who (B)does great and unsearchable things,
[a]Wonders without number.
10 He (C)gives rain on the earth,
And sends water on the fields,
11 So that (D)He sets on high those who are lowly,
And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
12 He (E)frustrates the schemes of the shrewd,
So that their hands cannot attain success.
13 He (F)captures the wise by their own cleverness,
And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.
14 By day they (G)meet with darkness,
And grope at noon as in the night.
15 But He saves from (H)the sword of their mouth,
And (I)the poor from the hand of the strong.
16 So the helpless has hope,
And (J)injustice has shut its mouth.
