5 “Call now; is there anyone who will answer you?
To which of the holy ones will you turn?^(A)

¹⁵ God puts no trust even in his holy ones,
    and the heavens are not clean in his sight;^(A)

¹⁸ Even in his servants he puts no trust,
    and his angels he charges with error;^(A)

⁸ Have you listened in the council of God?
    And do you limit wisdom to yourself?^(A)
9 What do you know that we do not know?
    What do you understand that is not clear to us?^(B)
10 The gray-haired and the aged are on our side,
    those older than your father.^(C)

²¹ Set forth your case, says the Lord;
    bring your proofs, says the King of Jacob.^(A)
22 Let them bring them and tell us
    what is to happen.
Tell us the former things, what they were,
    so that we may consider them
and that we may know their outcome
    or declare to us the things to come.^(B)
23 Tell us what is to come hereafter,
    that we may know that you are gods;
do good, or do harm,
    that we may be afraid and terrified.^(C)

41 Listen to me in silence, O coastlands;
    let the peoples renew their strength;
let them approach, then let them speak;
    let us together draw near for judgment.^(A)
