42 Job respondió entonces al Señor. Le dijo:

2 «Yo sé bien que tú lo puedes todo,
    que no es posible frustrar ninguno de tus planes.
3 “¿Quién es este —has preguntado—,
    que sin conocimiento oscurece mi consejo?”.
Reconozco que he hablado de cosas que no alcanzo a comprender,
    de cosas demasiado maravillosas
    que me son desconocidas.

4 »Dijiste:[a] “Ahora escúchame, yo voy a hablar;
    yo te cuestionaré y tú me responderás”.
5 De oídas había oído hablar de ti,
    pero ahora te veo con mis propios ojos.
6 Por tanto, me retracto
    y me arrepiento en polvo y ceniza».

Epílogo

7 Después de haberle dicho todo esto a Job, el Señor se dirigió a Elifaz de Temán y dijo: «Estoy muy enojado contigo y con tus dos amigos porque, a diferencia de mi siervo Job, lo que ustedes han hablado de mí no es verdad. 8 Tomen ahora siete novillos y siete carneros, vayan con mi siervo Job y ofrezcan un holocausto por ustedes mismos. Mi siervo Job orará por ustedes, y yo atenderé a su oración y no los haré quedar en vergüenza. Conste que, a diferencia de mi siervo Job, lo que ustedes han dicho de mí no es verdad».

9 Elifaz de Temán, Bildad de Súah y Zofar de Namat fueron y cumplieron con lo que el Señor les había ordenado y el Señor atendió a la oración de Job.

10 Después de haber orado Job por sus amigos, el Señor lo hizo prosperar de nuevo y le dio dos veces más de lo que antes tenía. 11 Todos sus hermanos y hermanas, y todos los que antes lo habían conocido, fueron a su casa y celebraron con él un banquete. Lo animaron y lo consolaron por todas las calamidades que el Señor había enviado, y cada uno de ellos le dio una pieza de plata[b] y un anillo de oro.

12 El Señor bendijo más los últimos años de Job que los primeros, pues llegó a tener catorce mil ovejas, seis mil camellos, mil yuntas de bueyes y mil asnas. 13 Tuvo también siete hijos y tres hijas. 14 A la primera de ellas le puso por nombre Jemima, a la segunda la llamó Quesia y a la tercera, Keren Hapuc.[c] 15 No había en todo el país mujeres tan bellas como las hijas de Job. Su padre les dejó una herencia, lo mismo que a sus hermanos.

16 Después de estos sucesos Job vivió ciento cuarenta años. Llegó a ver a sus hijos y a los hijos de sus hijos, hasta la cuarta generación. 17 Disfrutó de una larga vida y murió muy anciano.

4 Tu ai zis: «Ascultă şi voi vorbi!
    Te voi întreba şi Mă vei învăţa.»
5 Urechea mea a auzit despre Tine,
    dar acum ochiul meu Te-a văzut.
6 De aceea mă dispreţuiesc
    şi mă pocăiesc în ţărână şi cenuşă.“

7 După ce Domnul i-a spus aceste cuvinte lui Iov, Domnul i-a zis lui Elifaz din Teman: „Mânia Mea s-a aprins împotriva ta şi împotriva celor doi prieteni ai tăi, căci nu aţi vorbit drept despre Mine ca robul Meu Iov. 8 De aceea, ia acum şapte viţei şi şapte berbeci, duceţi-vă la robul Meu Iov şi aduceţi o ardere de tot pentru voi; robul Meu Iov să se roage pentru voi şi Eu voi primi rugăciunea lui şi nu vă voi face după nebunia voastră. Job’s Repentance and Restoration

42 Then[a] Job answered Yahweh and said,

2 “I know that you can do all things,
and any scheme from you will not be thwarted.
3 ‘Who is this darkening counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I uttered, but[b] I did not understand;
things too wonderful for me,[c] but I did not know.
4 ‘Hear and I will speak;
I will question you, then[d] inform me.’
5 By the ear’s hearing I heard of you,
but[e] now my eye has seen you.
6 Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes.”

7 And then[f] after Yahweh spoke these words to Job, Yahweh said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath has been kindled[g] against you[h] and against the two of your friends, for you[i] have not spoken to me what is right as my servant Job has. 8 So then,[j] take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will pray for you,[k] for I will certainly accept his prayer,[l] so that it will not be done with you[m] according to your folly, for you[n] have not spoken to me what is right as my servant Job has.”

9 So[o] Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did just as Yahweh had told them, and Yahweh accepted Job’s prayer.[p]

10 Then[q] Yahweh returned Job’s fortune when he prayed to him on behalf of his friends. Thus[r] Yahweh increased all that Job had twice as much as before.[s] 11 So[t] all his brothers and all his sisters and all those who had known him before[u] came to him, and they ate bread[v] with him in his house and showed sympathy to him and comforted him for all the disaster[w] that Yahweh had brought upon him. Then[x] each one gave to him one piece of money, and each one gave to him one ornamental ring of gold.

12 So[y] Yahweh blessed Job’s latter days more than his beginning. Thus he had[z] fourteen thousand sheep and goats and six thousand camels and a thousand pair of oxen and a thousand female donkeys. 13 And he had[aa] seven sons and three daughters. 14 And he called the name of the first Jemimah and the name of the second Keziah and the name of the third Qeren-Happuk. 15 And beautiful women were not found in all the land like Job’s daughters, and their father gave to them an inheritance in the midst of their brothers.

16 And Job lived after this one hundred and forty years, and he saw his sons and his grandsons[ab] for four generations. 17 Then[ac] Job died old and full of days.

42 Then Job replied to the Lord:

2 “I know that you can do all things;(A)
    no purpose of yours can be thwarted.(B)
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’(C)
    Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
    things too wonderful for me to know.(D)

4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;
    I will question you,
    and you shall answer me.’(E)
5 My ears had heard of you(F)
    but now my eyes have seen you.(G)
6 Therefore I despise myself(H)
    and repent(I) in dust and ashes.”(J)

Epilogue

7 After the Lord had said these things to Job(K), he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends,(L) because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.(M) 8 So now take seven bulls and seven rams(N) and go to my servant Job(O) and sacrifice a burnt offering(P) for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer(Q) and not deal with you according to your folly.(R) You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”(S) 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite(T) did what the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer.(U)

10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes(V) and gave him twice as much as he had before.(W) 11 All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before(X) came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the Lord had brought on him,(Y) and each one gave him a piece of silver[a] and a gold ring.

12 The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. 13 And he also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. 15 Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.

16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. 17 And so Job died, an old man and full of years.(Z)
