42 Entonces Job le respondió a Dios:
2 «Reconozco tu gran poder;
nadie puede impedirte
llevar a cabo tus planes.
3 Tú preguntas quién soy yo,
que siendo un ignorante
he puesto en duda tu sabiduría.
Reconozco que he dicho cosas
que no alcanzo a comprender,
cosas que son maravillosas
y que en realidad no conozco.
4 »Tú dijiste:
“Ahora yo voy a hablar,
y tú me vas a escuchar”.
5 »Lo que antes sabía de ti
era lo que me habían contado,
pero ahora mis ojos te han visto,
y he llegado a conocerte.
6 Así que retiro lo dicho,
y te ruego me perdones».
Un final feliz
7 Después de haber hablado con Job, Dios se dirigió a Elifaz y le dijo:
«Estoy muy enojado contigo y con tus dos amigos. Lo que han dicho ustedes de mí no es verdad; en cambio, es verdad lo que ha dicho Job. 8 Así que ahora acompañen a Job, y quemen en mi honor siete toros y siete carneros, para que yo los perdone. Job me rogará por ustedes, y en atención a sus ruegos no los haré quedar en vergüenza. Pero reconozcan que, a diferencia de Job, lo que han dicho ustedes de mí no es verdad».
9 Entonces Elifaz, Bildad y Zofar fueron y cumplieron con lo que Dios les mandó hacer, y Dios atendió a los ruegos de Job.
10 Después de que Job oró por sus amigos, Dios hizo que Job volviera a prosperar, y le devolvió el doble de lo que antes tenía. 11 Todos sus hermanos y hermanas, y todos los que antes lo habían conocido, fueron a visitarlo y celebraron una gran fiesta. Lo animaron y lo consolaron por todas las tragedias que Dios le había enviado, y cada uno de ellos le regaló una moneda de plata y un anillo de oro.
12 En sus últimos años de vida, Job recibió de Dios más bendiciones que en los primeros, pues llegó a tener catorce mil ovejas, seis mil camellos, dos mil bueyes y mil burras; 13 además, tuvo catorce hijos y tres hijas. 14 A la primera de ellas la llamó Paloma, a la segunda la llamó Jazmín, y a la tercera la llamó Azucena. 15 Estas tres hijas de Job eran las mujeres más hermosas del país, y tanto a ellas como a sus hermanos, Job les dejó una herencia.
16 Job vivió todavía ciento cuarenta años, y llegó a ver a sus hijos y nietos, hasta la cuarta generación. 17 Luego de haber disfrutado de una larga vida, murió siendo ya muy anciano.

Job's Confession and Repentance
42 Then Job answered the Lord and said:
2 “I know that you can (A)do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
3 (B)‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
things (C)too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4 ‘Hear, and I will speak;
(D)I will question you, and you make it known to me.’
5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;
6 therefore I despise myself,
and repent in[a] (E)dust and ashes.”
The Lord Rebukes Job's Friends
7 After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz (F)the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. 8 Now therefore take (G)seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and (H)offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall (I)pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.” 9 (J)So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the Lord had told them, and the Lord accepted Job's prayer.
The Lord Restores Job's Fortunes
10 And the Lord (K)restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job (L)twice as much as he had before. 11 Then came to him all his (M)brothers and sisters and all who had (N)known him before, and ate bread with him in his house. And they (O)showed him sympathy and comforted him for all the evil[b] that the Lord had brought upon him. And each of them gave him (P)a piece of money[c] and (Q)a ring of gold.
12 And the Lord blessed (R)the latter days of Job more than his beginning. And he had (S)14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. 13 He had also (T)seven sons and three daughters. 14 And he called the name of the first daughter Jemimah, and the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-happuch. 15 And in all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job's daughters. And their father gave them an inheritance (U)among their brothers. 16 And after this Job lived 140 years, and (V)saw his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations. 17 And Job died, an old man, and (W)full of days.
