³ ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
    things too wonderful for me that I did not know.^(A)

¹ O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;
    my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
    too great and too marvelous for me.^(A)

⁶ Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
    it is so high that I cannot attain it.^(A)

⁵ You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
    your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
    none can compare with you.
Were I to proclaim and tell of them,
    they would be more than can be counted.^(A)

² Surely I am too stupid to be human;
    I do not have human understanding.^(A)
3 I have not learned wisdom,
    nor have I knowledge of the holy ones.^[a](B)
4 Who has ascended to heaven and come down?
    Who has gathered the wind in the hollow of the hand?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?
    Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is the person’s name?
    And what is the name of the person’s child?
    Surely you know!^(C)
