神造鱷魚，顯出他偉大
41 “你能用魚鈎釣上鱷魚嗎？
能用繩子把牠的舌頭壓下嗎？
2 能把草繩穿進牠的鼻子嗎？
能用刺鈎穿透牠的腮骨嗎？
3 牠會向你再三懇求，
對你說溫柔的話嗎？
4 牠肯與你立約，
好使你永遠奴役牠嗎？
5 你怎能玩弄牠，像玩弄雀鳥一樣呢？
怎能把牠拴住，給你的幼女取樂呢？
6 結夥的漁夫怎能拿牠當貨物買賣呢？
怎能把牠分給商人呢？
7 你能用倒鈎扎滿牠的皮嗎？
能用魚叉扎滿牠的頭嗎？
8 你把手按在牠身上，
想到與牠的戰鬥，你就不再是這樣作了。（本章第1~8節在《馬索拉文本》為40:25~32）
9 人希望捉住牠是徒然的，
人一見牠，就心驚膽戰。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為41:1）
10 人惹牠的時候，牠不是很兇猛嗎？
這樣，有誰人在我面前能站立得住呢？
11 誰先給了我，以致我要償還呢？
天下萬物，都是我的。
12 論到鱷魚的四肢和牠的力氣，
以及美好的體態，我不能緘默不言。
13 誰能揭開牠的外皮呢？
誰能進入牠上下兩顎之間呢？
14 誰能打開牠的口呢？
牠的牙齒令人戰慄。
15 牠的背有一行一行的鱗甲，
緊緊合閉著，像印得很緊的印章一樣。
16 這鱗甲一一相連接，
連氣也透不入其間，
17 鱗甲一一互相連合，
互相緊貼，不能分離。
18 牠打的噴嚏閃出光來，
牠的眼睛如同清晨的陽光；
19 有火從牠的口中發出，
火星四射；
20 有煙從牠的鼻孔裡冒出來，
像從沸騰的鍋中和燒著的蘆葦裡冒出來一樣；
21 牠的氣可以點著煤炭，
有火燄從牠的口裡噴出來，
22 牠的頸項上存著能力，
驚恐在牠面前跳躍。
23 牠下垂的肌肉緊貼在一起，
牢牢地貼在身上，不能搖動。
24 牠的心堅實如石頭，
如下磨石那樣堅實。
25 牠一起來，勇士都驚慌，
因驚惶過度舉止失措。
26 追上牠的刀劍都沒用，
矛槍、標槍、短槍也是這樣。
27 牠把鐵當作乾草，
把銅當作朽木。
28 弓箭不能使牠逃跑，
甩石機弦在牠看來不過是碎稭。
29 棍棒被牠當作碎?，
短槍颼颼之聲牠也譏笑。
30 牠的腹下像銳利的瓦片，
牠在泥上碾過如同有利釘的耙犁田一樣。
31 牠使深淵沸騰，
牠攪動海洋如在鼎中調製膏油。
32 牠使自己行過的路發出白光，
令人把深淵當作白髮老人。
33 在世上沒有一樣像牠的，
牠是無所懼怕的動物；
34 所有高大的動物，牠都藐視，
牠在一切狂傲的野獸之上作王。”

41 [a]“Can you pull in Leviathan(A) with a fishhook(B)
or tie down its tongue with a rope?
2 Can you put a cord through its nose(C)
or pierce its jaw with a hook?(D)
3 Will it keep begging you for mercy?(E)
Will it speak to you with gentle words?
4 Will it make an agreement with you
for you to take it as your slave for life?(F)
5 Can you make a pet of it like a bird
or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?
6 Will traders barter for it?
Will they divide it up among the merchants?
7 Can you fill its hide with harpoons
or its head with fishing spears?(G)
8 If you lay a hand on it,
you will remember the struggle and never do it again!(H)
9 Any hope of subduing it is false;
the mere sight of it is overpowering.(I)
10 No one is fierce enough to rouse it.(J)
Who then is able to stand against me?(K)
11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay?(L)
Everything under heaven belongs to me.(M)
12 “I will not fail to speak of Leviathan’s limbs,(N)
its strength(O) and its graceful form.
13 Who can strip off its outer coat?
Who can penetrate its double coat of armor[b]?(P)
14 Who dares open the doors of its mouth,(Q)
ringed about with fearsome teeth?
15 Its back has[c] rows of shields
tightly sealed together;(R)
16 each is so close to the next
that no air can pass between.
17 They are joined fast to one another;
they cling together and cannot be parted.
18 Its snorting throws out flashes of light;
its eyes are like the rays of dawn.(S)
19 Flames(T) stream from its mouth;
sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke pours from its nostrils(U)
as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.
21 Its breath(V) sets coals ablaze,
and flames dart from its mouth.(W)
22 Strength(X) resides in its neck;
dismay goes before it.
23 The folds of its flesh are tightly joined;
they are firm and immovable.
24 Its chest is hard as rock,
hard as a lower millstone.(Y)
25 When it rises up, the mighty are terrified;(Z)
they retreat before its thrashing.(AA)
26 The sword that reaches it has no effect,
nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.(AB)
27 Iron it treats like straw(AC)
and bronze like rotten wood.
28 Arrows do not make it flee;(AD)
slingstones are like chaff to it.
29 A club seems to it but a piece of straw;(AE)
it laughs(AF) at the rattling of the lance.
30 Its undersides are jagged potsherds,
leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.(AG)
31 It makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron(AH)
and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.(AI)
32 It leaves a glistening wake behind it;
one would think the deep had white hair.
33 Nothing on earth is its equal(AJ)—
a creature without fear.
34 It looks down on all that are haughty;(AK)

41 “Job, mabibingwit mo kaya ang dragon na Leviatan? Matatalian mo kaya ang nguso niya ng lubid? 2 Matatalian mo ba ng lubid ang ilong niya o mailalagay mo kaya ang kawil sa kanyang panga? 3 Kapag nagawa mo iyon, makikiusap kaya siyang lagi sa iyo na pakawalan mo siya, o di kayaʼy magmakaawa siya sa iyo? 4 Makikipagkasundo kaya siya sa iyo na magpapaalipin habang buhay? 5 Magagawa mo kaya siyang parang alagang ibon o maibibigay mo ba siya sa iyong mga anak[a] na babae para kanilang laruin? 6 May negosyante kayang bibili sa kanya at hihiwa-hiwain siya para ipagbili? 7 Tatalaban kaya ng matulis na sibat ang kanyang ulo o balat? 8 Kapag hinawakan mo siya, maaalala mo kung gaano ito kahirap hulihin at masasabi mong hinding-hindi ka na uulit. 9 Walang saysay ang mga pagsisikap na hulihin siya, dahil makita mo pa lang siyaʼy maduduwag ka na. 10 Kung sa kanya ngaʼy walang mangangahas gumambala, sino pa kayang mangangahas na lumaban sa akin? 11 Sino ang makapagsasabing may utang na loob ako sa kanya? Ang lahat dito sa mundo ay akin.
12 “Sasabihin ko pa sa iyo ang tungkol sa katawan ng Leviatan at kung gaano siya kalakas at kamakapangyarihan. 13 Sinong makakatuklap ng kanyang balat o makakatusok nito? 14 Sino ang makakapagpabuka ng kanyang bunganga? Ang mga ngipin niyaʼy nakakatakot. 15 Ang likod niyaʼy may makakapal na kaliskis na parang panangga na nakasalansan. 16-17 Sobrang dikit-dikit na ito na kahit ang hangin ay hindi makakalusot at walang makakatuklap nito. 18 Kapag sumisinga siya, may lumalabas na parang kidlat at ang kanyang mga mata ay mapula na parang bukang-liwayway. 19 Bumubuga siya ng apoy, 20 at umuusok ang ilong na ang usok ay parang nagmumula sa kumukulong palayok na may nagliliyab na panggatong. 21 Ang hininga niyaʼy makapagpapabaga ng uling dahil sa apoy na lumalabas sa kanyang bunganga. 22 Nasa leeg ang kanyang lakas, at ang makakita sa kanya ay kinikilabutan. 23 Kahit ang kanyang mga laman ay siksik at matitigas. 24 Matigas din ang puso niya, kasintigas ng gilingang bato. 25 Kapag siyaʼy tumayo, takot na takot pati ang mga makapangyarihang tao. 26 Walang espada, sibat, pana, o palasong makakapanakit sa kanya. 27 Para sa kanya ang bakal ay kasinlambot lang ng dayami at ang tanso ay para lang bulok na kahoy. 28 Hindi niya iniilagan ang mga pana. Ang mga batong tumatama sa kanyaʼy nagiging parang mga ipa lang. 29 Ang mga kahoy na ipinapalo ay parang mga dayami lang sa kanya. At pinagtatawanan lang niya ang mga humahagibis na sibat na isinisibat sa kanya. 30 Ang tiyan niyaʼy may mga kaliskis na matalim, na parang mga basag na bote. Kaya kapag gumagapang siya sa putik, nag-iiwan siya ng mga bakas. 31 Kinakalawkaw niya ang dagat hanggang bumula na parang kumukulong tubig sa palayok o kumukulong langis sa kaldero. 32 Ang tubig na kanyang dinadaanan ay bumubula, parang puting buhok kung tingnan. 33 Wala siyang katulad dito sa mundo. Isa siyang nilalang na walang kinatatakutan. 34 Minamaliit niya ang lahat ng mayayabang na hayop. Siya ang hari ng lahat ng mababangis na hayop sa gubat.”

41 “Can you draw out (A)Leviathan[a] with a hook,
Or snare his tongue with a line which you lower?
2 Can you (B)put a reed through his nose,
Or pierce his jaw with a [b]hook?
3 Will he make many supplications to you?
Will he speak softly to you?
4 Will he make a covenant with you?
Will you take him as a servant forever?
5 Will you play with him as with a bird,
Or will you leash him for your maidens?
6 Will your companions [c]make a banquet of him?
Will they apportion him among the merchants?
7 Can you fill his skin with harpoons,
Or his head with fishing spears?
8 Lay your hand on him;
Remember the battle—
Never do it again!
9 Indeed, any hope of overcoming him is false;
Shall one not be overwhelmed at the sight of him?
10 No one is so fierce that he would dare stir him up.
Who then is able to stand against Me?
11 (C)Who has preceded Me, that I should pay him?
(D)Everything under heaven is Mine.
12 “I will not [d]conceal his limbs,
His mighty power, or his graceful proportions.
13 Who can [e]remove his outer coat?
Who can approach him with a double bridle?
14 Who can open the doors of his face,
With his terrible teeth all around?
15 His rows of [f]scales are his pride,
Shut up tightly as with a seal;
16 One is so near another
That no air can come between them;
17 They are joined one to another,
They stick together and cannot be parted.
18 His sneezings flash forth light,
And his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lights;
Sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke goes out of his nostrils,
As from a boiling pot and burning rushes.
21 His breath kindles coals,
And a flame goes out of his mouth.
22 Strength dwells in his neck,
And [g]sorrow dances before him.
23 The folds of his flesh are joined together;
They are firm on him and cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as hard as stone,
Even as hard as the lower millstone.
25 When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid;
Because of his crashings they [h]are beside themselves.
26 Though the sword reaches him, it cannot avail;
Nor does spear, dart, or javelin.
27 He regards iron as straw,
And bronze as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee;
Slingstones become like stubble to him.
29 Darts are regarded as straw;
He laughs at the threat of javelins.
30 His undersides are like sharp potsherds;
He spreads pointed marks in the mire.
31 He makes the deep boil like a pot;
He makes the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He leaves a shining wake behind him;
One would think the deep had white hair.
33 On earth there is nothing like him,
Which is made without fear.
34 He beholds every high thing;
He is king over all the children of pride.”
