Dios Habla Hoy
Primera serie de diálogos(A)
Elifaz
4 Seguramente, Job, te será molesto
que alguien se atreva a hablarte,
pero no es posible quedarse callado.
3 Tú, que dabas lecciones a muchos
y fortalecías al débil;
4 tú, que animabas a levantarse al que caía
y sostenías al que estaba por caer,
5 ¿te acobardas y pierdes el valor
ahora que te toca sufrir?
6 Tú, que eres un fiel servidor de Dios,
un hombre de recta conducta,
¿cómo es que no tienes plena confianza?
7 Piensa, a ver si recuerdas un solo caso
de un inocente que haya sido destruido.
8 La experiencia me ha enseñado
que los que siembran crimen y maldad
cosechan lo que antes sembraron.
9 Dios, en su furor, sopla sobre ellos
y los destruye por completo.
10 Por más que gruñan y rujan como leones,
Dios los hará callar rompiéndoles los dientes.
11 Morirán como leones que no hallaron presa,
y sus hijos serán dispersados.
12 Calladamente me llegó un mensaje,
tan suave que apenas escuché un murmullo.
13 Por la noche, cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres,
tuve una inquietante pesadilla.
14 El terror se apoderó de mí;
todos los huesos me temblaban.
15 Un soplo me rozó la cara
y la piel se me erizó.
16 Alguien estaba allí,
y pude ver su silueta
pero no el aspecto que tenía.
Todo en silencio... Luego oí una voz:
17 «¿Puede el hombre ser justo ante Dios?
¿Puede ser puro ante su creador?
18 Ni aun sus servidores celestiales
merecen toda su confianza.
Si hasta en sus ángeles encuentra Dios defectos,
19 ¡cuánto más en el hombre, ser tan débil
como una casa de barro construida sobre el polvo,
y que puede ser aplastado como la polilla!
20 Entre la mañana y la tarde es destruido;
muere para siempre, y a nadie le importa.
21 Su vida acaba como un hilo que se corta;
muere sin haber alcanzado sabiduría.»

Eliphaz Speaks
4 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered:
2 “If someone tried to speak with you, would you be ·upset [or discouraged]?
I cannot keep from speaking.
3 Think about the many people you have taught
and the weak hands you have made strong.
4 Your words have ·comforted [L lifted up] those who ·fell [stumbled],
and you have strengthened those ·who could not stand [L with weak knees].
5 But now trouble comes to you, and you are discouraged;
·trouble hits [L it touches] you, and you are ·terrified [disturbed].
6 ·You should have [Shouldn’t you have…?] confidence because you ·respect [fear; have awe for] God;
·you should [should you not…?] have hope because ·you are innocent [L of your innocent ways].
7 “Remember ·that the innocent will not die [L who being innocent/blameless has perished…?];
·honest people will never be [L when were the honest/virtuous…? ] destroyed.
8 I have ·noticed [seen] that people who plow ·evil [wickedness]
and plant trouble, harvest it.
9 God’s breath destroys them,
and a blast of his anger ·kills [finishes] them.
10 Lions may roar and lion cubs growl,
but when the teeth of a strong lion are broken,
11 that lion dies ·of hunger [L without prey].
The cubs of the mother lion are scattered [C the wicked may briefly prosper but will ultimately perish].
12 “A word ·was brought to me in secret [L stole over me],
and my ears heard a whisper of it [C Eliphaz claims a supernatural revelation that supports his teaching].
13 It was during ·a nightmare [L anxious thoughts of a night vision]
when people are in deep sleep.
14 I was trembling with fear;
all my bones were shaking.
15 A spirit glided past my face,
and the hair on my ·body [L skin] stood on end.
16 The spirit stopped,
but I could not see what it was.
A shape stood before my eyes,
and I heard a quiet voice.
17 It said, ‘Can a human be more right than God?
Can a person be pure before his maker? [C the implied answer is no]
18 God does not trust his ·angels [L servants];
he blames ·them [L angels] for mistakes.
19 So ·he puts even more blame on [L what about…?] people who live in clay houses [C physical bodies],
whose foundations are made of dust [Gen. 2:7],
who can be crushed like a moth.
20 Between ·dawn and sunset [L morning and evening] many people are broken to pieces;
without being noticed, they die and are gone forever.
21 The ropes of their tents are pulled up,
and they die without wisdom.’

4 Elifas från Teman svarade:
2 Orkar du låta någon säga ett ord till dig?
För vem kan tiga nu?
3 Tänk på hur många du har gett vägledning
och styrkt svaga armar.
4 Dina ord har lyft den som snubblat,
du har gett stöd åt vacklande knän.
5 Men när det nu gäller dig själv
blir du missmodig,
och när det drabbar dig
blir du förskräckt.
6 Borde inte din gudsfruktan också vara din tillförsikt
och din oförvitlighet ditt hopp?
7 Tänk efter! Har en oskyldig någonsin gått under
eller en rättsinnig gått förlorad?
8 Jag har sett att de som plöjer ondska och sår ofärd
också får skörda det.
9 De förintas av Guds andedräkt,
en pust av hans vrede förgör dem.
10 Lejonets[a] rytande och unga lejonets vrål tystnar,
det manprydda lejonets tänder bryts.
11 I brist på rov förgås det kraftiga lejonet
och lejonungarna skingras.
12 Ett ord kom till mig i hemlighet,
som en viskning nådde det mitt öra,
13 i ängslande drömmar på natten,
när människorna sov djupt.
14 Rädsla och bävan föll över mig,
och hela min kropp darrade av skräck.
15 En vindpust[b] drog förbi mitt ansikte
och håren på min kropp reste sig.
16 Den stannade,
men jag kunde inte urskilja vad det var.
Någonting stod där, framför mig.
Då hörde jag en röst tala ur tystnaden:
17 ”Kan en människa vara rättfärdig inför Gud
och ren inför sin skapare?
18 Om Gud inte kan lita på sina tjänare,
om han till och med hos änglarna finner fel,
19 hur mycket mer då inte hos dem som bor i lerhyddor,
dem som har sitt ursprung i stoftet,
som kan krossas lättare än mal!
20 Mellan morgonen och kvällen bryts de ner,
obemärkt blir de borta för alltid.
21 Deras tältpluggar rycks upp för dem,
och de dör utan visdom.”
