God verlangt een antwoord
39 ‘Kunt u de prooi verzorgen voor een leeuwin en de honger van haar jongen stillen,
2 die in het hol of in het struikgewas liggen te wachten?
3 Wie zorgt voor de raven wanneer hun jongen tot God roepen en hongerig door het nest kruipen?
4 Weet u wanneer de berggeiten hun jongen werpen en de hinden moeten kalven?
5,6 Weet u hoeveel maanden zij moeten dragen voordat zij zich krommen om hun jongen te werpen en van die last verlost zijn?
7 Hun jongen groeien op in het open veld, waarna zij hun ouders verlaten en nooit meer bij hen terugkeren.
8 Wie laat de wilde ezels vrij rondlopen, wie heeft hun touwen losgemaakt?
9 Ik heb hun een leefgebied gegeven in de wildernis en de zoutvlakten.
10 Want zij lachen om het lawaai van de stad en het geschreeuw van drijvers.
11 De bergweiden zijn hun grasland, daar zoeken zij naar groene blaadjes.
12 Zal de wilde stier u willen dienen? Zal hij ʼs nachts bij uw voerbak blijven staan?
13 Kunt u de stier voor het ploegen gebruiken? Zal hij de eg voor u trekken?
14 Zult u op hem vertrouwen omdat hij zo sterk is? Zult u hem zelf laten uitmaken waar hij werkt?
15 Kunt u hem gebruiken om uw graan binnen te brengen naar de dorsvloer?
16 De struisvogel klapt vrolijk met haar vleugels, maar met haar slagpennen en veren is zij nog geen ooievaar.
17 Zij legt haar eieren op de grond en laat ze warm worden in het zand.
18 Ze vergeet daarbij dat iemand ze kan kapottrappen of dat de wilde dieren ze kunnen vernielen.
19 Zij behandelt haar jongen hard alsof ze helemaal niet van haar zijn, zij vindt het niet erg ze te dragen en de eieren te leggen,
20 want God heeft haar geen wijsheid of gezond verstand gegeven!
21 Maar als zij opspringt om weg te rennen, verslaat zij het snelste paard met zijn berijder!
22 Hebt u het paard zijn kracht en die prachtige manen gegeven?
23 Hebt u hem het vermogen gegeven te springen als een sprinkhaan? Zijn gebries is angstaanjagend.
24-26 Hij woelt vrolijk met zijn hoeven de grond om en is trots op zijn kracht. En wanneer hij ten strijde trekt, toont hij geen angst voor het zwaard en gaat hij er niet vandoor als de pijlkoker klettert en speren en lansen blinken.
27 Opgewonden stormt hij over het veld en is niet meer te houden wanneer het trompetgeschal klinkt.
28 Bij het geluid van de hoorn begint hij te snuiven. Van ver ruikt hij de strijd. De strijdkreten en het geluid van de bevelen klinken hem vertrouwd in de oren.
29 Weet u hoe een havik zijn vleugels naar het zuiden uitslaat?
30 Vliegt de gier op uw bevel omhoog om op de hoge rotsen een nest te bouwen?
31 Hij leeft dag en nacht op de rotsen en bouwt daar zijn nest als een onneembaar fort.
32 Van daaruit bespiedt hij zijn prooi ver beneden hem.
33 Zijn jongen in het nest leven van bloed, want waar gesneuvelden zijn, daar is de gier ook.’
34 De Here vervolgde:
35 ‘Wilt u nog steeds redetwisten met de Almachtige en Hem verbeteren? Of is dit genoeg? Kan de man die Mij wilde bekritiseren, Mij nu ook de antwoorden geven?’
36 Job antwoordde God:
37 ‘Ik ben een onwaardig mens, hoe zou ik U kunnen antwoorden?
38 Ik leg mezelf het zwijgen op en zal niet voor de tweede maal spreken. Ik heb al veel te veel gezegd.’

39 Vadászol-é prédát a nõstény oroszlánnak, és az oroszlánkölykök éhségét kielégíted-é;
2 Mikor meglapulnak tanyáikon, [és] a bokrok közt lesben vesztegelnek?
3 Ki szerez a hollónak eledelt, mikor a fiai Istenhez kiáltoznak; kóvályognak, mert nincs mit enniök?
4 Tudod-é a kõszáli zergék ellésének idejét; megvigyáztad-é a szarvasok fajzását?
5 Megszámláltad-é a hónapokat, a meddig vemhesek; tudod-é az ellésök idejét?
6 [Csak] összegörnyednek, elszülik magzataikat, vajudásaiktól []megszabadulnak.
7 Fiaik meggyarapodnak, a legelõn nagyranõnek, elszélednek és nem térnek vissza hozzájok.
8 Ki bocsátotta szabadon a vadszamarat, ki oldozta el e szamárnak kötelét,
9 A melynek házául a pusztát rendelém, és lakóhelyéül a sósföldet?
10 Kineveti a városbeli sokadalmat, nem hallja a hajtsár kiáltozását.
11 A hegyeken szedeget, az õ legelõjén mindenféle zöld [gazt] felkeres.
12 Akar-é szolgálni néked a bölény? Avagy meghál-é a te jászolodnál?
13 Oda kötheted a bölényt a barázdához kötelénél fogva? Vajjon boronálja-é a völgyeket utánad?
14 Bízhatol-é benne, mivelhogy nagy az ereje, és munkádat hagyhatod-é reá?
15 Hiszed-é róla, hogy vetésedet behordja, és szérûdre betakarítja?
16 Vígan [leng] a struczmadár szárnya: vajjon az eszterág szárnya és tollazata-é az?
17 Hiszen a földön hagyja tojásait, és a porral költeti ki!
18 És elfeledi, hogy a láb eltiporhatja, és a mezei vad eltaposhatja azokat.
19 Fiaival oly keményen bánik, mintha nem is övéi volnának; ha fáradsága kárba vész, nem bánja;
20 Mert Isten a bölcseséget elfeledtette vele, értelmet pedig nem adott néki.
21 De hogyha néki ereszkedik, kineveti a lovat és lovagját.
22 Te adsz-é erõt a lónak, avagy a nyakát sörénynyel te ruházod-é fel?
23 Felugraszthatod-é, mint a sáskát? Tüsszögése dicsõ, félelmetes!
24 [Lábai] vermet ásnak, örvend erejének, a fegyver elé rohan.
25 Neveti a félelmet; nem remeg, nem fordul meg a fegyver elõl;
26 Csörög rajta a tegez, ragyog a kopja és a dárda:
27 Tombolva, nyihogva kapálja a földet, és nem áll veszteg, ha trombita zeng.
28 A trombitaszóra nyerítéssel felel; messzirõl megneszeli az ütközetet, a vezérek lármáját és a csatazajt.
29 A te értelmed miatt van-é, hogy az ölyv repül, [és] kiterjeszti szárnyait dél felé?
30 A te rendelésedre száll-é fent a sas, és rakja-é fészkét a magasban?
31 A kõsziklán lakik és tanyázik, a sziklák párkányain és bércztetõkön.
32 Onnét kémlel enni való után, messzire ellátnak szemei.

2 Ngươi có đếm được số tháng cho đến ngày nó sinh
và biết đúng lúc nó sinh con không?
3 Nó nằm xuống, sinh con ra
rồi hết đau đẻ.
4 Các con nó lớn mạnh trong vùng hoang dã.
Rồi rời tổ, không trở về nữa.
5 Ai thả cho lừa hoang chạy rông?
Ai tháo dây cho nó?
6 Ta là Đấng ban sa mạc làm nơi ở cho lừa hoang;
Ta ban đất sa mạc cho nó sinh sống.
7 Con lừa hoang chê cười nơi huyên náo của chốn thị thành,
và không nghe tiếng hò hét của kẻ đánh xe.

Nó không hề biết có thể thú vật dẫm lên đó.
16 Chim đà điểu rất hung bạo đối với con nó,
như thể không phải con mình.
Nó không quan tâm đến công sức đã bỏ ra,
17 vì Thượng Đế không cho nó trí khôn;
Ngài không ban cho nó hiểu biết thông thường.
18 Nhưng khi nó chỗi dậy phóng chạy,
thì nó chạy rất nhanh,

19 Gióp ơi, có phải ngươi ban sức mạnh cho ngựa

Nó đánh mùi chiến trường từ xa;
Nó nghe tiếng người chỉ huy và tiếng hò la xung trận.
26 Có phải nhờ khôn ngoan ngươi mà chim ó bay được
và giương cánh bay về phương Nam [b]?
27 Có phải ngươi ra lệnh cho chim diều hâu [c] bay
và làm tổ trên cao?
28 Nó ở trên các ghềnh đá cao và ngủ ở đó suốt đêm;
chỏm đá là nơi trú ẩn an toàn của nó.
29 Từ đó nó tìm mồi;

39 “Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch the deer giving birth? 2 Can you number the months that they carry their young? Or do you know the time when their young are born? 3 They get down and give birth to their young, and get rid of their pains. 4 Their young ones become strong. They grow up in the open field. They leave and do not return to them.
5 “Who has let the wild donkey go free? Who has taken off the ropes which held the fast donkey? 6 I gave him the desert for a home, and the salt land for a place to live. 7 He hates the noise of the city. He does not hear the calls of the man who drives him. 8 He goes looking for grass to eat on the mountains. He looks for every green thing. 9 Will the wild ox be willing to serve you? Will he stay through the night by the food you give him to eat? 10 Can you tie the wild ox to a plow in the field? Will he follow you to plow the valleys? 11 Will you trust in him because he is very strong, and leave your work to him? 12 Will you trust him to return and bring your grain to your grain-floor?
13 “The wings of the ostrich wave with joy, but are they the wings of love? 14 For she leaves her eggs to the earth and lets them get warm in the dust. 15 She forgets that a foot might crush them, or that the wild animal may step on them. 16 She is bad in the way she acts toward her young, as if they were not hers. Her work of giving birth is for nothing, for she does not care. 17 Because God has not given her wisdom or her share of understanding. 18 When she begins to run, she laughs at the horse and the horseman.
19 “Do you give the horse his strength? Do you dress his neck with long hair? 20 Do you make him jump like the locust? The powerful noise he makes with his nostrils fills men with fear. 21 He hits his foot against the ground in the valley, and has joy in his strength. He goes out to meet the battle. 22 He laughs at fear and is not afraid. He does not turn back from the sword. 23 The arrows and spears he carries make noise as they hit together. 24 He runs fast over the ground with shaking and anger. He cannot stand still at the sound of the horn. 25 When the horn sounds, he laughs without fear. He smells the battle from far away. He hears the thunder of the captains, and the war cry.
26 “Is it by your understanding that the hawk flies, spreading his wings toward the south? 27 Is it because the eagle is obeying you that he flies high and makes his nest in a high place? 28 He lives on a high rock. His strong place is on the mountain-top that is hard to reach. 29 From there he looks for his food. His eyes see it from far away. 30 He is where dead bodies are and his young ones drink the blood.”

Will you leave your heavy work to it?
12 Can you trust it to haul in your grain

13 “The wings of the ostrich flap joyfully,
though they cannot compare

14 She lays her eggs on the ground
and lets them warm in the sand,
15 unmindful that a foot may crush them,
that some wild animal may trample them.(Q)
16 She treats her young harshly,(R) as if they were not hers;
she cares not that her labor was in vain,
17 for God did not endow her with wisdom
or give her a share of good sense.(S)
18 Yet when she spreads her feathers to run,
she laughs(T) at horse and rider.
19 “Do you give the horse its strength(U)
or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?
20 Do you make it leap like a locust,(V)
striking terror(W) with its proud snorting?(X)
21 It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength,(Y)
and charges into the fray.(Z)
22 It laughs(AA) at fear, afraid of nothing;
it does not shy away from the sword.
23 The quiver(AB) rattles against its side,

24 In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground;
it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.(AD)
25 At the blast of the trumpet(AE) it snorts, ‘Aha!’
It catches the scent of battle from afar,
the shout of commanders and the battle cry.(AF)
26 “Does the hawk take flight by your wisdom
and spread its wings toward the south?(AG)
27 Does the eagle soar at your command
and build its nest on high?(AH)
28 It dwells on a cliff and stays there at night;
a rocky crag(AI) is its stronghold.

its eyes detect it from afar.
30 Its young ones feast on blood,
