Satan Allowed to Test Job

⁶ Now there was a day when ^(A)the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and ^(B)Satan^[a] also came among them.

¹¹ Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering ^(A)myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands,

^16 (A)“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things ^(B)for the churches. I am ^(C)the root and ^(D)the descendant of David, ^(E)the bright morning star.”

Satan Attacks Job's Health

2 Again ^(A)there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord.

²⁸ And I will give him ^(A)the morning star.

¹¹ And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord,

And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. ¹² But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers' houses, ^(B)old men who had seen the first house, wept with a loud voice when they saw the foundation of this house being laid, though many shouted aloud for joy,

⁷ Who are you, ^(A)O great mountain? Before ^(B)Zerubbabel ^(C)you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward ^(D)the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”
