19 Teach us what we will tell him,
    for we can’t make our case by reason of darkness.
20 Will it be told him that I would speak?
    Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?

21 Now men don’t see the light which is bright in the skies,
    but the wind passes, and clears them.
22 Out of the north comes golden splendor.
    With God is awesome majesty.
23 We can’t reach the Almighty.
    He is exalted in power.
    In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress.
24 Therefore men revere him.
    He doesn’t regard any who are wise of heart.”

    Can we prepare our case to face him
        when our faces are in darkness?
20 Has it been relayed to God[a] that I want to talk?
    Can a person[b] speak when he is confused?”

God is Revered

21 “So then, the sun[c] is too bright to gaze at, is it not?
    The sky is swept clean by the wind that blows,[d] is it not?
22 From the north he brings gold;
    around God is awesome splendor.
23 We cannot find the Almighty—
    he is majestic in power and justice,
and overflowing with righteousness;
    he never oppresses.
24 Therefore humanity fears him,
    which none of the wise[e] can quite comprehend.”
