Dios Habla Hoy
37 Al ver la tempestad, mi corazón palpita
como si fuera a salírseme del pecho.
2 Escuchen el estruendo de la voz de Dios,
el trueno que sale de su boca.
3 Él lanza el relámpago por todo el cielo
y de un extremo a otro de la tierra.
4 Luego se oye un estruendo,
cuando hace resonar su voz majestuosa;
y mientras se oye el trueno,
los relámpagos no cesan.
5 Cuando Dios hace tronar su voz,
se producen maravillas;
suceden grandes cosas que nadie puede comprender.
6 Ordena a la nieve caer sobre la tierra
y hace que la lluvia caiga con violencia.
7 Hace que los hombres se queden en sus casas,
y que todos reconozcan que él es quien actúa.
8 Los animales entran en sus cuevas,
y allí se quedan escondidos.
9 Del sur viene el huracán,
y del norte viene el frío.
10 Por el soplo de Dios se forma el hielo
y las aguas extensas se congelan.
11 Él carga de humedad las nubes,
y hace que de ellas surja el rayo;
12 y el rayo va, zigzagueando por el cielo,
cumpliendo así las órdenes de Dios
en toda la superficie de la tierra.
13 De todo ello se vale Dios para castigar a la tierra
o para mostrarle su bondad.
14 Job, ten paciencia y escucha,
considera las cosas admirables que hace Dios.
15 ¿Sabes tú cómo Dios dispone todo esto,
y cómo brilla el relámpago en la nube?
16 ¿Sabes tú cómo flotan las nubes en el aire,
prueba admirable de su perfecta inteligencia?
17 Tú te sofocas de calor entre tu ropa
cuando el viento del sur adormece la tierra.
18 ¿Puedes tú ayudar a Dios a extender el cielo
y dejarlo firme como una hoja de metal?
19 Enséñanos qué debemos decirle a Dios,
pues estamos a oscuras y sin argumentos.
20 Yo ni siquiera le diría que quiero hablar,
pues sería como querer que me destruya.
21 No es posible ver la luz del sol
cuando las nubes lo ocultan;
pero si el viento sopla, el cielo se aclara.
22 Resplandores de oro aparecen por el norte,
cuando Dios se rodea de terrible majestad.
23 No podemos comprender al Todopoderoso,
pues él es inmensamente fuerte y justo;
es recto y no oprime a nadie.
24 Por eso los hombres le temen;
nada significan los sabios para él.

37 Super hoc expavit cor meum, et emotum est de loco suo.
2 Audite auditionem in terrore vocis ejus, et sonum de ore illius procedentem.
3 Subter omnes caelos ipse considerat, et lumen illius super terminos terrae.
4 Post eum rugiet sonitus; tonabit voce magnitudinis suae: et non investigabitur, cum audita fuerit vox ejus.
5 Tonabit Deus in voce sua mirabiliter, qui facit magna et inscrutabilia;
6 qui praecipit nivi ut descendat in terram, et hiemis pluviis, et imbri fortitudinis suae;
7 qui in manu omnium hominum signat, ut noverint singuli opera sua.
8 Ingredietur bestia latibulum, et in antro suo morabitur.
9 Ab interioribus egredietur tempestas, et ab Arcturo frigus.
10 Flante Deo, concrescit gelu, et rursum latissimae funduntur aquae.
11 Frumentum desiderat nubes, et nubes spargunt lumen suum.
12 Quae lustrant per circuitum, quocumque eas voluntas gubernantis duxerit, ad omne quod praeceperit illis super faciem orbis terrarum:
13 sive in una tribu, sive in terra sua, sive in quocumque loco misericordiae suae eas jusserit inveniri.
14 Ausculta haec, Job: sta, et considera mirabilia Dei.
15 Numquid scis quando praeceperit Deus pluviis, ut ostenderent lucem nubium ejus?
16 Numquid nosti semitas nubium magnas, et perfectas scientias?
17 Nonne vestimenta tua calida sunt, cum perflata fuerit terra austro?
18 Tu forsitan cum eo fabricatus es caelos, qui solidissimi quasi aere fusi sunt.
19 Ostende nobis quid dicamus illi: nos quippe involvimur tenebris.
20 Quis narrabit ei quae loquor? etiam si locutus fuerit homo, devorabitur.
21 At nunc non vident lucem: subito aer cogetur in nubes, et ventus transiens fugabit eas.
22 Ab aquilone aurum venit, et ad Deum formidolosa laudatio.
23 Digne eum invenire non possumus: magnus fortitudine, et judicio, et justitia: et enarrari non potest.
24 Ideo timebunt eum viri, et non audebunt contemplari omnes qui sibi videntur esse sapientes.

37 “At this my heart pounds(A)
and leaps from its place.
2 Listen!(B) Listen to the roar of his voice,(C)
to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.(D)
3 He unleashes his lightning(E) beneath the whole heaven
and sends it to the ends of the earth.(F)
4 After that comes the sound of his roar;
he thunders(G) with his majestic voice.(H)
When his voice resounds,
he holds nothing back.
5 God’s voice thunders(I) in marvelous ways;(J)
he does great things beyond our understanding.(K)
6 He says to the snow,(L) ‘Fall on the earth,’
and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’(M)
7 So that everyone he has made may know his work,(N)
he stops all people from their labor.[a](O)
8 The animals take cover;(P)
they remain in their dens.(Q)
9 The tempest comes out from its chamber,(R)
the cold from the driving winds.(S)
10 The breath of God produces ice,
and the broad waters become frozen.(T)
11 He loads the clouds with moisture;(U)
he scatters his lightning(V) through them.(W)
12 At his direction they swirl around
over the face of the whole earth
to do whatever he commands them.(X)
13 He brings the clouds to punish people,(Y)
or to water his earth and show his love.(Z)
14 “Listen(AA) to this, Job;
stop and consider God’s wonders.(AB)
15 Do you know how God controls the clouds
and makes his lightning(AC) flash?(AD)
16 Do you know how the clouds hang poised,(AE)
those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?(AF)
17 You who swelter in your clothes
when the land lies hushed under the south wind,(AG)
18 can you join him in spreading out the skies,(AH)
hard as a mirror of cast bronze?(AI)
19 “Tell us what we should say to him;(AJ)
we cannot draw up our case(AK) because of our darkness.(AL)
20 Should he be told that I want to speak?
Would anyone ask to be swallowed up?
21 Now no one can look at the sun,(AM)
bright as it is in the skies
after the wind has swept them clean.
22 Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;(AN)
God comes in awesome majesty.(AO)
23 The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;(AP)
in his justice(AQ) and great righteousness, he does not oppress.(AR)
24 Therefore, people revere him,(AS)
for does he not have regard for all the wise(AT) in heart?[b]”
