¹⁴ How much less when you say that you do not see him,
    that the case is before him and you are waiting for him!^(A)

¹¹ Look, he passes by me, and I do not see him;
    he moves on, but I do not perceive him.^(A)

⁷ But as for me, I will look to the Lord;
    I will wait for the God of my salvation;
    my God will hear me.^(A)

⁸ Do not rejoice over me, my enemies;^[a]
    when I fall, I shall rise;
when I sit in darkness,
    the Lord will be a light to me.^(B)
9 I must bear the indignation of the Lord
    because I have sinned against him,
until he takes my side
    and executes judgment for me.
He will bring me out to the light;
    I shall see his vindication.^(C)

¹⁷     No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper,
    and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord
    and their vindication from me, says the Lord.^(A)

¹⁸ Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you;
    therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
    blessed are all those who wait for him.^(A)

² Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
    righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.^(A)

⁵ I consider the days of old
    and remember the years of long ago.^(A)
6 I commune^[a] with my heart in the night;
    I meditate and search my spirit:^[b](B)
7 “Will the Lord spurn forever
    and never again be favorable?^(C)
8 Has his steadfast love ceased forever?
    Are his promises at an end for all time?^(D)
9 Has God forgotten to be gracious?
    Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah^(E)
10 And I say, “It is my grief
    that the right hand of the Most High has changed.”^(F)
