⁸ who travels in company with evildoers
    and walks ^(A)with wicked men?

1 Blessed is the man^[a]
    who ^(A)walks not in ^(B)the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in ^(C)the way of sinners,
    nor ^(D)sits in ^(E)the seat of ^(F)scoffers;

²⁰ Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
    but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

¹⁸ If you see a thief, ^(A)you are pleased with him,
    ^(B)and you keep company with adulterers.

¹² delivering you from the way of evil,
    from men of perverted speech,

¹⁵ my son, ^(A)do not walk in the way with them;
    ^(B)hold back your foot from their paths,

¹² Behold, these are the wicked;
    always at ease, they ^(A)increase in riches.
¹³ All in vain have I ^(B)kept my heart clean
    and ^(C)washed my hands in innocence.
¹⁴ For all the day long I have been ^(D)stricken
    and ^(E)rebuked ^(F)every morning.
¹⁵ If I had said, “I will speak thus,”
    I would have betrayed ^(G)the generation of your children.
